Selected situations
Situations worked on
The situations below were undertaken by members of the KentRidge team. Certain situations have been anonymised for confidentiality.
-
Trade and commodity finance
Working-capital and trade-finance facilities supporting cross-border agricultural commodity flows. Facilities were sized against documented shipments with identified offtakers, with repayment taken from transaction proceeds.
Undertaken by a member of the KentRidge team prior to the firm’s founding. Counterparty, size and date withheld for confidentiality.
-
Corporate refinancing
Short-dated bank lines extended into longer-dated private credit for established operating businesses, with security reorganised to reflect the assets actually being financed.
Undertaken by a member of the KentRidge team prior to the firm’s founding. Counterparty, size and date withheld for confidentiality.
-
Acquisition and expansion finance
Senior-secured acquisition, integration and working-capital facilities for established companies, sized on demonstrated earnings, not on the acquisition case.
Undertaken by a member of the KentRidge team prior to the firm’s founding. Counterparty, size and date withheld for confidentiality.
Basis of presentation
Each entry above records work undertaken by a member of the KentRidge team at a previous organisation. None is presented as a transaction completed by KentRidge Capital, and none should be read as evidence of a transaction the firm has arranged in its own name. Where a transaction is completed by KentRidge, it will be recorded separately, with the firm’s role stated and only with the written consent of the parties involved.
Observation
Recurring problems
Sectors change constantly; the problems underneath them do not. A cash cycle that outruns the balance sheet. A good asset carrying the wrong liabilities. Collateral that exists but cannot yet be evidenced.
Founder
Sevriano Battista
Sevriano leads transaction structuring and execution at KentRidge Capital. Every transaction is led personally, from first assessment through to closing.
Before founding KentRidge, he worked at a Singapore-based private-credit platform focused on lower-middle-market transactions across Asia. That work covered private credit, structured finance, private-equity diligence and financing execution, and included more than 20 private-market transactions and a US$95 million debt-and-equity financing. Experience gained at a previous organisation; not a KentRidge Capital transaction.
He holds an LL.B. from the University of Edinburgh.
